| Resolving a cross-organizational battle over requirements |
|
An information system
development organization and it's primary internal customer organization
were at odds over the requirements for the next phase of a major system
improvement. The organizations' directors jointly asked Strategic
Perspectives to meet with the people from the two organizations as they
discussed the requirements. |

 |
|
We helped the two groups
understand how their language and some specific historical mistakes were
spiraling the relationship out of control. Under our leadership,
the two groups jointly established some rules for the discussion,
dismissed two members from the team who could not follow these rules,
devised a team procedure to drive out the requirements, and executed the
procedure. Each subsequent meeting became more productive as the
group completed their task. |
