| "Emergency" planning meeting for mid-level managers |

Strategic Perspectives
facilitated a hastily scheduled, "emergency" planning meeting
of all mid-level managers in a corporate information system development
department. The objective was to identify strategies and near-term
tactics to address a large number of inter-related issues that were seen
as obstacles to effectively accomplishing their mission. |
|
The attendees gave
the facilitator (and themselves) a standing ovation at the conclusion of
the meeting. |
|
Because of the last-minute
nature of the engagement, we structured the meeting with limited
understanding of their situation. Although the group was diverse,
and the managers were initially agitated by having to drop all previous
plans for this three-day meeting, the group became focused and committed
to the resulting plan. The result was specific plan with tasking
and milestones, presented to their senior management at the end of the
meeting. |
